Provided are an image processing device and an image processing method that extract, as a display image, a part of an image acquired by a wide-angle camera disposed at a position displaced from a vehicle center line, i.e., a longitudinal direction center line of a vehicle, and configured such that the degree of reduction in size of a subject is increased with increasing distance from the center of the acquired image. The image processing device includes a control circuit (30) that extracts a display image. The control circuit (30) is provided with an extract determination unit (S120-S160) that determines a center position of the display image with respect to the vehicle center line, and an extraction position for the display image in the acquired image in accordance with the degree of reduction in size of the subject represented by pixels at a specific position in the display image. |
