PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a level gage with which maintenance (repair, component replacement, adjustment or the like) can be performed easily even during operation of a piston type capacity variable storage vessel (e.g., a piston type gas holder), as a level gage for detecting a height position (level) of a vertically moving piston in the capacity variable storage vessel.SOLUTION: A level gage 10 comprises a balance 11 which is installed on a roof 4 of a gas holder 1, a chain 12 the upper end of which is mounted in one end of the balance 11 and the lower end portion of which is drooped and stopped on an upper surface of a piston 5, a counter weight 13 which is mounted in the other end of the balance 11, and a load cell 14 which measures a difference (M-F) between a gravity (weight) M acting on the counter weight 13 and a hang-up force F acting from the chain 12 through the balance 11 on the counter weight 13. A height position (level) of the piston 5 is detected from a measurement of the load cell 14. |
