PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire grid polarization plate that exhibits high optical symmetric property to incident light from 360 nm to 500 nm, and that exhibits excellent change resolvability even if metal wire made of aluminum or the like is protected by an adhesive agent or the like.SOLUTION: A wire grid polarization plate includes: a base material 101 having a grid-like convexoconcave part extending in a specific direction; and metal wire 102 abutting on a side face on one direction side of a grid-like convex part of the grid-like convexoconcave part and extending above an apex of the grid-like convex part. The grid-like convex part has a pitch of 115 nm or less. The grid-like convex part has a rectangular cross-sectional shape in a plane perpendicular to the extension direction of the grid-like convexoconcave part. A lower end of the metal wire 102 abuts on a concave part substrate plane of the base material 101. The height of the metal wire 102 is 1.0-10 times as high as the convex part of the grid-like convex part.
