<p>Cpds. of formula (I): (where R is opt. substd. alkyl (pref. =21C alkyl or =14C haloalkyl), alkenyl, aryl (pref. Ph), a heterocyclic gp. (pref. pyridyl), alkoxy, (pref. linear =22C alkoxy or 1-9C haloalkoxy) or aryloxy (pref. PhO) are prepd. by elimination of H2O from a mixt. of anhydrous HCHO and RCONHX (where X is H or CH2OH). Cpds. (I) are useful for processing cellulosic materials, e.g. imparting water-repellency and crease-resistance to cotton.</p> |
