A transparent electrode includes a conductive layer and an intermediate layer disposed adjacent to the conductive layer. The intermediate layer contains a bipyridine derivative represented by the following general formula (1). The conductive layer is composed of silver as a main component. In the general formula (1), E1 to E10 each represent CR or N, and R represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent; and Ar represents a substituted or non-substituted aromatic hydrocarbon ring or a substituted or non-substituted aromatic heterocyclic ring.;

1. A transparent electrode comprising:
a conductive layer; and an intermediate layer disposed adjacent to the conductive layer, wherein the intermediate layer contains a bipyridine derivative represented by the following general formula (1), and the conductive layer is composed of silver as a main component, in the general formula (1), E1 to E10 each represent CR or N, and R represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent; and Ar represents a substituted or non-substituted aromatic hydrocarbon ring or a substituted or non-substituted aromatic heterocyclic ring.
