Graft copolymer blends of elastomer and styrene

In mouldings designed to have resistance to mechanic shock as well as chemical resistance to oil and petrol, as in pipes and rainwater goods, combinations of rubber or other elastomers and thermoplastic resins are used but may show poor ageing resistance to light etc. It has now been found that good ageing resistance, with above properties is obtained by using partially satd. elastomers produced by copolymerisation of butadiene with alkyl acrylates. Compositions are produced by mixing a thermoplastic resin (A) with a tetrapolymer (B) (elastomer) where (A) is a copolymer of styrene-acrylonitrile (or analogue) or other monomers of vinyl series, and (B) is the product of polymerisation of a monomer mixt. of styrene and acrylonitrile.
