<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To satisfy both of shortening the time up to the formation of a first image from such a state that the operation of an image forming apparatus is resting and saving power consumption. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a human detection sensor 40 detecting the approach of a human and when the approach of the human is detected, a motor 28 driving a rotary polygon mirror 27 provided in an exposure device 26 of an image forming part 2 is started up. When the revolving speed of the rotary polygon mirror becomes scannable speed and the temperature of the heating roll becomes the second temperature, an image forming operation is started.
