<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for performing image formation by applying a recording liquid to an intermediate transfer member using a head, which suppresses bleeding even without applying a processing liquid, powder, or the like, other than the recording liquid, while ensuring a discharging performance of the recording liquid from the head; and to provide an image forming method employing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus includes: the intermediate transfer member 37 with a conductive surface on which a conductive recording liquid discharged by a nozzle 61a provided to heads 61Y, 61M, 61C, and 61BK (hereafter, heads 61) is applied; a voltage applying unit 33 for applying a voltage between the intermediate transfer member 37 for electrolysis of the conductive recording liquid, which is discharged from the head 61 and bridged between the head 61 and the intermediate transfer member 37, and the head 61; and a control unit 40 for controlling the discharge by the voltage applied to the conductive recording liquid by such voltage application from the time of starting such a state to the termination of the voltage application at the timing of duration of the state of≥30% and≤70%. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
