<p>A gas generator (10) has an elongate combustion housing (20) shaped to fit within a borehole for generating gasses for use in the recovery of petroleum products. The gas generator (10) includes a plurality of annular cooling jacket segments (70) that surround the elongate combustion housing (20), each of the segments (70) having an inlet port and an outlet port. Apertures (71) through the elongate combustion housing (20) allow water to flow from the segments (71) into the elongate combustion chamber (50). The invention further includes a method for cooling the gas generator (10) by controlling the flow of water into and out of each of the annular cooling jacket segments (70).</p> |
