PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing an optical film that has scratch resistance against a cloud of dust and is less likely scratched when contaminated by a living environment.SOLUTION: A production method of an optical film having a hard coat layer and a surface protective layer, successively formed on at least one surface of a substrate, is provided. The surface protective layer is a cured product of a composition for forming a surface protective layer, which comprises at least one compound selected from a metal alkoxide and its hydrolysate, and an ionic photo-base generator. The production method of the optical film includes steps of: forming an uncured composition layer by applying the above composition for forming a surface protective layer on the hard coat layer; generating a base by irradiating the uncured composition layer with light; and curing the uncured composition layer by heating. |
