<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide device in a nest-type optical waveguide structure in which the device per se has an operating point shift suppression function without requiring any control apparatus or the like. <P>SOLUTION: An optical waveguide device comprises a substrate comprised of lithium niobate having electro-optical effects, an optical waveguide formed on the substrate, and a plurality of modulation electrodes for modulating light waves guided within the optical waveguide. The optical waveguide is branched into two in a light wave advancing direction to constitute two main optical waveguides, and each main optical waveguide is further branched into two in the light wave advancing direction to constitute two sub optical waveguides. The two main optical waveguides constitute a main Mach-Zehnder optical waveguide and the two sub optical waveguides are integrated into the main Mach-Zehnder optical waveguide and constitute a sub Mach-Zehnder optical waveguide. The optical waveguide device is configured to have a heat conduction suppression area between the two sub Mach-Zehnder optical waveguides positioned facing each other on the substrate. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
