TERNARY ALLOY AND EUTECTIC HEAT TRANSFER FLUID COMPOSITION FOR FUSION BLANKETS

A composition for a fusion blanket is disclosed. The composition may make use of a mixture of lithium, tin and X. X may be selected from a group consisting of zinc, sodium, gallium, silver, indium, tin, mercury, bismuth and lead. The compositions of the mixture may provide a melt temperature of no higher than about 420C. The various compositions provide a needed degree of tritium breeding, high tritium solubility, excellent energy gain, low density, and further serve to reduce the reactivity of the lithium. The various compositions are also non-corrosive to material wall structures used in fusion reactors.
