PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retrofitted attachment mechanism of an excavator tooth.SOLUTION: An attachment mechanism 20 comprises a tooth 18 having a pocket 24 formed therein, an insert attached to an adaptor nose 22, and a threaded fastener 26 which releasably secures the tooth 18. The pocket 24 of the tooth 18 has at least one side wall which has an insert-receiving recess, and generally planar insert-engaging interface surfaces. One of the interface surfaces resists rotation of the tooth 18 about a longitudinal axis in one direction, and another interface surface resists rotation of the tooth 18 in the opposite direction. Further, a lock device 82 is used whose lock member 84 prevents inadvertent removal of the fastener 26 from the adaptor nose 22 and tooth 18. |
