PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-absorption two-component fiber which combines good mechanical stability and good water absorption capacity.SOLUTION: A high-absorption two-component fiber contains component A consisting of at least one thermoplastic polymer and component B consisting of a compound selected from at least one thermoplastic basic polymer and at least one high-absorption polymer (SAP). The thermoplastic polymer contained in the component A is 20°C higher in melting point than the thermoplastic polymer contained in the component B. The average particle size of SAP is 0.5-10 μm, the compound has an SAP content of 0.5-40 mass%. The fiber has a core-sheath structure: the component A is contained in the core, and the component B is contained in the sheath. The component A is produced from a polyester capable of melt spinning, and the base polymer of the component B is produced from polyethylene. |
