CARBON PARTICLES COATED WITH POLYMER FILMS, METHODS FOR THEIR PRODUCTION AND USES THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide carbon black coated with polymer films excellent in stability of a dispersion state of rubber, methods for its production and uses thereof.SOLUTION: Carbon black with surfaces modified to have hydrophobic or hydrophilic properties can be obtained by plasma polymerization on surfaces of fullerene-based soot particles under a monomer atmosphere of, e.g., hydrocarbon, fluorocarbon and silicon-containing monomers; and exhibits excellent rubber performance as carbon black fillers for tires.
