<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceramic electronic component having excellent erosion resistance to water-soluble flux in an external electrode and high moisture resistance even after solder-mounting using water-soluble flux. <P>SOLUTION: An external electrode 5 comprises: a lower layer external electrode 5a including glass having a content of an alkaline earth metal within a range of 37 to 45 mol%, which is formed on a surface of a ceramic element body; and an upper layer external electrode 5b including a glass having a content of SiO<SB POS="POST">2</SB>within a range of 50 to 55 mol%, which is formed on the lower layer external electrode. A rate of the glass in an inorganic solid substance included in the lower layer external electrode is within a range of 17 to 25 vol%, and a rate of the glass in an inorganic solid substance included in the upper layer external electrode is within a range of 5 to 18 vol%.
