<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calculate the adhesion amount of toner in an accurate, smooth, and rapid manner without depending on an input image, while compressing necessary memory space. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a PDL interpretation unit 101 that has font information 1221 about the association between characters according to the standard font and the adhesion amount of toner, and extracts predetermined characters and non-characters from an output target image; and a toner adhesion amount calculation unit 120 that determines the adhesion amount of character toner for printing characters included in the output target image using the adhesion amount of toner according to the association with the characters in the font information 1221, and calculates the adhesion amount of non-character toner for printing non-character area on the basis of characteristic information set for every area obtained by dividing the non-character area. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
