PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus with which, without providing a special circuit for error detection, it is possible to detect, with a main CPU, an error of FAX transmission executed by a FAXCPU and take measures appropriate to a type of the error.SOLUTION: A main CPU calculates a transmission completion schedule time T on a basis of a data amount of FAX-transmitted image data. When the transmission completion schedule time T has passed since transmission of a transmission start signal instructing the FAX transmission to a FAXCPU without a response signal informing whether the FAX transmission has ended in success or failure being received from the FAXCPU, the main CPU transmits a state confirmation signal to the FAXCPU. When a response signal has not been received in response to the state confirmation signal, the main CPU resets the FAXCPU. When a response signal indicating that the transmission is under way has been received in response to the state confirmation signal and the transmission completion schedule time T has passed since start of the FAX transmission, the main CPU instructs the FAXCPU to end the FAX transmission. |
