<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a water-soluble polymer improved so as to obtain uniform (co)polymer particles of excellent fluidity without causing any troublesome emulsification. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing a water-soluble polymer comprises: a polymerization step of dripping, into a dispersant including a hydrophobic organic solvent and an emulsifier, an aqueous monomer solution containing an N-vinylcarboxylic acid amide or the amide and another copolymerizable component, followed by conducting a suspension polymerization in the presence of a polymerization initiator to obtain (co)polymer granule slurry; and a step of modifying the (co)polymer granules by adding an acid to the slurry containing the (co)polymer granules obtained above. In this method, 0.5-3.0 mass% of the emulsifier is used based on the amount of hydrophobic organic solvent to initiate the polymerization and 0.1-3.0 mass% of the emulsifier is added further to the system after the dripping amount of the aqueous monomer solution comes to 80 mass% and until the modification step. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
