摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adopt inexpensive ASIC in the case of mass production by preventing an arithmetic processing from being varied at every unit type and fixing a processing of FPGA and to correspond to a state where an attaching position of a camera to a vehicle slightly shifts to right and left and an image slightly inclines. <P>SOLUTION: The sprag detection device sets detection areas which are vertically divided on a vehicle rear image of imaging means and detects a sprag based on a difference of luminance between upper and lower detection areas while the vehicle retreats. The sprag detection device includes storing means storing a setting position of the detection area based on a length of the sprag and lateral width of the detection area. When the sprag is detected, the detection area is set in a position stored in the storing means. Two lines are drawn backwards compared to a vehicle rear end in a position detached by a distance calculated based on the length of the sprag, which is a reference, on both sides from a center line in a vehicle forward/backward direction on the vehicle rear image.
