A vehicle-use control device of an embodiment of the present invention is provided with an inverter that converts direct-current power into three-phase alternating-current power and supplies the alternating-current power to a motor for driving a vehicle. A detector detects a current value between the inverter and the motor. A control unit applies pulse-width modulation (PWM) control to the inverter on the basis of the current value detected by the detector, a speed instruction signal, and the rotor frequency of the motor. If the rotor frequency is no more than a prescribed value and the PWM modulation factor is at least a prescribed value, the control unit determines that a malfunction has occurred. |
