PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate an image with an extended imaging area which includes a plurality of excellent subject images.SOLUTION: A CPU 11 sequentially acquires a plurality of images with changing their imaging areas as partial images. A face region evaluation processing part 54 detects subject images from each of the plurality of acquired partial images having different imaging areas. The face region evaluation processing part 54 evaluates each of the detected subject images. An image synthesis processing part 56 selects an image, having a subject image with a higher evaluation result, as an image for synthesis, within a plurality of partial images containing the same subject image. The image synthesis processing part 56 generates an image with an extended imaging area by synthesizing a plurality of acquired partial images containing different subject images and a selected partial image for synthesis within the plurality of partial images containing the same subject image.
