<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium excellent in electromagnetic conversion characteristics and travel characteristics.SOLUTION: The electromagnetic recording medium includes: a nonmagnetic support body; a nonmagnetic layer formed on one principal surface of the nonmagnetic support body; a magnetic layer formed on a principal surface of the nonmagnetic layer opposite to the nonmagnetic support body side; and a back coat layer formed on the other principal surface of the nonmagnetic support body. Magnetic power included in the magnetic layer is hexagonal ferrite magnetic power or ferromagnetic iron-based metal magnetic powder. When it is defined that a distance between a first peak and a second peak of a differential curve found from a luminous curve obtained by finding out luminous values of a cross section of the magnetic recording medium from a reflected electronic image obtained by observing the cross section by using a YAG detector and averaging the luminous value is average thickness t of the magnetic layer, and in the luminous curve, an average luminous value of the nonmagnetic layer is 0 and a maximum luminous value of the magnetic layer is 100, and when it is defined that average thickness of an area from a luminous value 70 to a luminous value 30 of the magnetic layer on the opposite side to the nonmagnetic layer side is the average thickness L1 of a first mixed layer, 2nm≤L1≤6nm is formed.</p> |
