a first substrate comprising a first electrode, a first wall, a switching element, a second electrode and a first vertical alignment film, the wall portion including a wall electrode formation surface forming a side surface of the wall portion, the second electrode being electrically connected to the switching element, the first vertical alignment film covering the first electrode, the second electrode and the wall portion; a second substrate comprising a third electrode and a second vertical alignment film, and located opposite to the first substrate with a gap therebetween, the third electrode being located opposite to the first electrode, the second vertical alignment film covering the third electrode; and a liquid crystal layer held between the first substrate and the second substrate, wherein the second electrode includes a wall electrode provided on the wall electrode formation surface. |
