The invention relates to a method for processing a plate-like workpiece having a transparent, glass, glass-like, ceramic, and/or crystalline layer (2), in particular for processing a plate-like workpiece for producing panes for screens. From the plate-shaped workpiece, a plurality of partial segments (17) is initially incompletely severed from the rest of the workpiece, in that holes, which extend at least through the one layer (2) in the layer thickness direction, are introduced along the outer contour of the partial segments (17) and the partial segments (17) remain connected to the rest of the workpiece at least in the one layer (2) by means of at least one web-like remaining connection each. Only later are the partial segments (17) isolated by severing the web-like remaining connections. The invention further relates to a severing device (4) and to a product made from a plate-like workpiece having a transparent, glass, glass-like, ceramic, and/or crystalline layer (2). |
