A package 3 adapted to hold a food item, such as chocolate 2, comprising a first package part 5 with a receptacle 9, with an inner face, having an opening with an edge 6 extending at least partially around the opening. A second package part 4, which may be a sheet of film, is attached to the edge. An enclosure is formed via an association between the first and second package parts and this enclosure holds the food item. The inner face is adapted to conform to a shaped portion of a surface of the food item, like a mould. The second package part is preferably sealed to the first package part, with a flange 7 attached to the edge to aid in removing the first package part. This sealing preferably requires no application of heat or pressure, which may affect the food item. In a second embodiment the first and second package parts are formed from the same sheet of film, as a unitary item, and folded together to form the package. The package may be part of a multi-pack provided with lines of weakness. The receptacle may be suitable for the provision of display of the item, graphics, or text. The food item may be a moulded biscuit or cake. Also detailed are the ingredients for chocolate. |
