A steering wheel has first and second spokes 4, each having a plate shape and each connecting to a boss 2 at separate points and to a rim 3 at substantially opposite joining points. First and second spokes 4 each have circular holes 9 centrally located along the length and width of the spoke, preferably near a part of the spoke at which bending force is applied from the rim. Holes 9 may be through holes or may be indentations with no through passage. Spokes 4 may be resistant to torsional deformation from an impact load absorbed by deformation of rim 3 and bending of spokes 4. The arrangement is particularly suitable for steering wheels having only two spokes. |
