A compound of formula I or a pharmaceutically active salt or N-oxide thereof: wherein A and B are optionally substituted aryl/heteroaryl; X is -(R1)W(R2)-, Y is a bond, C1-C3alkylene, C=O, C(R5)=N, or C1-C3oxyalkylene; W is O, S, SO, SO2, NH, N(C1-C6)alkyl, C(O)O, C(O)NH, SO2NH, Si(C1-C6)alkyl2, or C(R3)=C(R4); Z is -N(R6)C=R9NR7R8; R1 and R2 are a bond or C1-C3alkylene; R3, R4 and R5 are H or (C1-C6)alkyl; R6, R7, and R8 are hydrogen or a substituent; R9 is O, S, SO, SO2, NR10, or CR11R12; R10, R11 and R12 are hydrogen or a substituent or, R6 and R7, R7 and R8, R8 and R10, R6 and R10, R6 and R11, or R8 and R11 form an optionally substituted heteroaryl/heterocyclyl ring; or, R6, R7, R8, R10, R11 form an optionally substituted heteroaryl/heterocyclyl ring fused to ring A. The compounds are useful in the treatment or prophylaxis of bacterial infections in an animal. |
