<p>A method, radio device, and associated digital radio system for communication between a first device 2 and a second device 8, where each device comprises a radio transmitter 4 and a radio receiver 6, the method comprising: a) said first and second devices 2, 8 establishing a connection at a first data rate using a predetermined protocol having at least one predefined message format; b) said first device 2 transmitting a poll message to said second device 8; c) if said first device 2 does not receive a reply from said second device 8, said first device 2 transmitting a further poll message at a second data rate, lower than the first data rate. The method may be used with Bluetooth or Bluetooth low energy protocols. A data scheme may use a plurality of chips to represent a single bit. A lower data rate may be used for communication at lower signal qualities or at longer range.</p> |
