1280150 Thickeners COURTAULDS Ltd 13 Nov 1969 [14 Nov 1968] 54076/68 Heading A2B [Also in Division C3] Cellulose ether compositions having improved dispersion and solution in cold water for use in thickening ice-creams and soups and consisting essentially of an intimate powdery mixture of a water-soluble cellulose ether e.g. methyl cellulose and from 1 to 20% by weight based on the ether of a watersoluble food selected from sucrose, a natural gum such as Karaya gum, locust bean gum or gum tragacanth, the water-soluble extract of carrageen and propylene glycol alginate may be prepared by blending the ether and food in the presence of water which may dissolve all or part of the mixture of solids and subsequently drying and grinding the mixture. |
