The screen of a vibrating screen apparatus comprises a plurality of parallel rods 11 supported underneath by a plurality of transverse tie rods 20 and forming a sloping screen surface, each tie rod being supported by at least one upstanding slat 21 which has its lower portion secured to a screen frame 23, 3, and a flat face portion transverse to the screen rods 11 such that the slat is resilient and is caused to flex by the impact of material on the screen, thus producing a self-cleaning action. The lengths of the slats at the upper materialreceiving end of the screen are 2 to 1“ times greater than the lengths of the lower slats. The screen rods 11 may form a series of steps (Fig. 1, not shown) with the angle of declination of the tread portion of each step diminishing within the range 50‹-15‹ from the upper to the lower end of the screen. |
