The present invention relates to an electrode coated with metal oxide and to a manufacturing method thereof. The method comprises: a step of grinding a positive electrode active material in a spinel structure which operates at a voltage of greater than or equal to 4.6V and casting the same to aluminum foil; a step of leaving the casted positive electrode active material in a vacuum; and a step of providing a metal organism to the positive electrode active material in a vacuum, treating the same using electron cyclotron resonance plasma (ECR-CVD), and depositing a metal oxide film to the positive electrode active material. Accordingly, the present invention inhibits side reactions with an electrolyte at a high voltage and high temperature, improves stability and thermal stability at a high voltage and high temperature, and can gain excellent capacity even in high energy and power density and excellent charging and discharging cycle performance. |
