A pacifier or dummy for soothing babies and infants comprises a mouthpiece, such as a teat or nipple, which is removably connectable through an aperture in a shield 16 to an attachment such as a handle to hold the shield in place. The mouthpiece may have a neck 13 which extends back upon itself over a wall 17 extending from the shield 16 and is secured by an annular ring 15 around the wall 17 or held in frictional engagement between a plug 20 and the wall 17. Alternatively, the neck may have a thickened end portion which is compressed between surfaces 17 of the shield 16 and the plug 20. Also disclosed are pacifiers comprising a mouthpiece, a shield and an attachment, which in one embodiment, have a mouthpiece and shield which cannot be detached and a shield and attachment which are removably connectable and in another embodiment have a mouthpiece and shield which are removably connectable and a shield and attachment which are removably connectable. |
