<p>A warning device for a bicycle comprises one or more aerofoil wings 14, 16 mounted on a support unit 12 on a bicycle, the aerofoil wings being adapted to rest in a lowered position and to be elevated by lift from passing air as the bicycle is ridden. Preferably the aerofoil wings comprise one or more reflective regions or light sources 46a-e, the light sources may be light emitting diodes and may be actuated by a switch when the aerofoil wings reach a chosen angle of pivot. Preferably the aerofoil wings are detachable from the support unit 12 by means of a quick release mechanism allowing the aerofoil wings to detach from the device on impact. Preferably the aerofoil wings may be rotated about an axle substantially parallel to the axis of the wings to vary the amount of lift generated by the aerofoil wings as they pivot.</p> |
