In a process, Fig. 1 for aligning and closing complementary strips which are provided in a seamless tubing 4 and form parts of a fastener e.g. of a flexible wrapper of plastics material, the inside surfaces of the tubing which are superimposed after leaving the pinch rollers 7 are separated by a weak air cushion 5 and the portion provided with the complementary strips is then moved through a closing device which embraces said tubing portion from the outside. One embodiment of the closing device (18) Figs. 2; 3 (not shown) comprises carriers (23, 24) for the closing elements, consisting of grooves (25, 26) which impinge.. on the complementary strips. The carriers (23, 24) are adjustably spaced by means of a screw (29) and held against the complementary strips by means of a tension spring (28) acting about a hinge (27) the whole is adjustably mounted, Fig.2 (not shown) by guide elements (20, 21) on a guide rod (19). A second embodiment. Figs. 4, 5 (not shown) of a closing device (36) comprises rollers (39, 40) carried by prongs (37, 38) mounted on an adjustable bracket (30) for movement in a horizontal plane towards the tubing.
