Disclosed is an energy storage system for a high speed railroad substation which applies a charging and discharging technique contemplating a state of charge (SOC) of a battery based on power consumption prediction by a power consumption pattern of a high speed railroad substation and a high speed railroad operation diagram. The energy storage system charges the battery by receiving power from the high speed railroad substation and provides the power charged in the battery to a high speed railroad electric train. The energy storage system comprises; a power consumption prediction unit which predicts power consumption by time of the day by using the power consumption pattern of the high speed railroad substation and the high speed railroad operation diagram within a high speed railroad substation section; an energy storage operation pattern determining unit which determines a time section in which the battery is charged and a time section in which the battery is discharged according to the power consumption by time of the day predicted in the power consumption prediction unit; and an energy storage operation unit which controls charging and discharging actions of the battery according to the charging and discharging time sections of the battery determined in the energy storage operation pattern determining unit. |
