High viscosity index lube oils

摘要

Lubricating oils with a high viscosity index are prepd. by contacting a high-boiling mineral oil fraction at elevated temp. at pressure in presence of hydrogen with a catalyst contg. Ni and/or Co/Mo and/or W in the form of metal, oxide and/or sulphide, and phosphous oxide on a heat and chemically resistant oxide support. Gives lubricating oils with a very high viscosity index. e.g. 140-170. The oils are suitable as components of multigrade lubricating oils.
