A method and apparatus for transmitting an aperiodic sounding reference signal (SRS) in a wireless communication system is provided. The method include receiving a downlink control information (DCI) format including a triggering signal for triggering a transmission of an aperiodic SRS from a base station (BS) via a physical downlink control Channel (PDCCH), blind-decoding the PDCCH in a UE-specific search space, and transmitting the aperiodic SRS triggered based on the triggering signal to the BS.

1. A method for transmitting an aperiodic sounding reference signal (SRS) by a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:
receiving, from a base station (BS) through a radio resource control (RRC) layer, an aperiodic SRS activation signal indicating whether or not transmission of an aperiodic SRS is triggered by a triggering bit included in a downlink control information (DCI) format; receiving the DCI format including the triggering bit for triggering transmission of the aperiodic SRS from the BS via a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) if the aperiodic SRS activation signal indicates that the transmission of the aperiodic SRS is triggered by the triggering bit; decoding the PDCCH in a UE-specific search space; detecting the triggering bit in the UE-specific search space; and transmitting the aperiodic SRS to the BS.
