1. An implant device comprising:
a pump, pacemaker, defibrillator, or stimulator; an implantable composite secured thereto; wherein the implantable composite comprises a substantially flexible elongate body having a first end and a second end and formed by a biodegradable and biocompatible polymer, and a releasable bioactive agent; wherein the substantially flexible elongate body completely erodes to soluble species under physiologic conditions over a period of greater than 1 month to about 2 years; wherein a first portion of the substantially flexible elongate body is connected to a second portion of the substantially flexible elongate body to form a substantially continuous loop around the said pump, pacemaker, defibrillator, or stimulator; wherein connection of the first portion to the second portion prevents the substantially continuous loop from enlarging in size through movement of the first portion relative to the second portion; wherein the substantially continuous loop has a diameter from about 5 cm to about 25 cm; and wherein, either (i) the first portion of the substantially flexible elongate body comprises a series of ridges along at least a portion thereof, and wherein the second portion of the substantially flexible elongate body comprises a receiving opening comprising a ridged engaging tooth for securely engaging at least a portion of the series of ridges when the first portion is inserted into the receiving opening of the second portion, or (ii) the substantially flexible elongate body having a top side and a bottom side, further comprising a first portion of ridged engaging teeth disposed on the top side of the substantially flexible elongate body at the first end and a second portion of ridged engaging teeth disposed on the bottom side of the substantially flexible elongate body at the second end.
