A single-use rodent containment cage comprises a cover member, at least one bottle receptacle and a base. The cover member is constructed from a polymer having a substantially uniform thickness of about 0.01 inches to about 0.08 inches. The at least one bottle receptacle is disposed in the cover member. The receptacle comprises a bottom portion connected to the sides and an aperture disposed on the bottom portion. The base comprises a plurality of walls and a bottom formed from a polymer. One or more of the sides of the bottle receptacle of the cover is about 0.01 inches or less from one or more of the cage base walls when the cover is attached to a cage. The contour of the water bottle receptacle substantially matches the contour of cage walls in proximity to the water bottle receptacle.
