MOLECULES WITH A BETA-AGGREGATING REGION AND THEIR USE IN INDUCING PROTEIN AGGREGATION

The present invention belongs to the field of functional proteomics and more particularly to the field of protein aggregation. The invention discloses a method for interfering with the function of a target protein and uses a non-naturally, user-designed molecule, designated as interferor, that contain a beta-aggregating region also present in a target protein. Contact of the interferor molecule with the target protein induces intermolecular beta-aggregation, thereby inhibiting the function of the protein. The present invention also discloses the use of such interferor molecules in therapeutic applications.
