A method for mounting an optical lens to be polished on a spindle of a polishing device, the optical lens comprising a first and a second main surface, the method comprising: an optical lens providing step, in which an optical lens whose first main surface is to be polished is provided; and a mounting step, in which the optical lens is mounted on the spindle, wherein the mounting step further comprises a support device positioning step, in which a support device is positioned between the spindle and the second surface of the optical lens so as to be rotated by the spindle and to have a contact surface partly in contact with the second main surface of the optical lens that partly extends beyond the second main surface of the optical lens so as to extend the second main surface of the optical lens; and wherein the contact surface of the support device is at least partly covered with a membrane having a Shore-hardness greater or equal to 40 D and smaller or equal to 100 D.
