<p>A smart digital signage terminal having a multi-application for outdoor advertisement and contents play and a method thereof are provided. The smart digital signage terminal comprises: a transmission and reception module for receiving contents from a DS arrangement/management server; a memory module for storing contents received through the transmission and reception module; and a control module which has a core application for controlling the transmission and reception module, receiving contents and storing the contents in the memory module and a display application for playing the stored contents and displaying the contents. The core application updates contents prestored in the memory module by automatically communicating with the DS arrangement/management server through the transmission and reception module, receives schedule information of the updated contents and plays the contents according to the received schedule information. The display application is formed to control an interface to play the contents according to the received schedule information and to display on the display device.
