<p>Infected Long bone fractures with concomitant non-union, pose a significant morbidity to any individual. Open fractures of long bones, pose and even greater problem. And, fixations of such fractures which have gone awry, because of these infections, push the morbidity even further. It is therefore imperative for the Surgeon to be able to control the infection as soon as possible, whilst enabling the surgeon to achieve weight bearing stability for the patient. The device therefore acts as an integral splint and reduce the subsequent infection associated with prior use of an external fixator.</p> |
