The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for calculating azimuth which can acquire a certain amount of data, calculate the offset more quickly by reducing a memory usage amount by conducting offset calculation through a arithmetical method, not through the existing probabilistic calculation method, and also reducing a calculation amount of calculating the offset as well as data acquisition, and calculate an accurate offset value by improving reliability of data used in the offset calculation by removing a noise component through an intermediate filter. In addition, by using an auxiliary offset calculation unit, response speed of azimuth calculation can be increased by calculating the offset after changing a reference point roughly before calculating the offset with an arithmetic and probabilistic method, and the azimuth calculation can be accurately conducted without the need for another azimuth calculation if only an offset value is changed without changing the azimuth. |
