A solar power generation system in one mode of this invention is characterized by the provision of the following: a power generation unit comprising one or more solar-cell modules that utilize sunlight to generate electrical power; a load device that, electrically isolated from either the power-generation-unit side or the ground, consumes or converts the electrical power generated by the power generation unit; a grounding unit that grounds the positive electrode or the negative electrode of the power generation unit; an exclusion unit positioned so as to be able to exclude the effect that the grounding performed by the grounding unit would have on the ground potential of the power generation unit; and a ground-fault detection unit that, with the effect that the grounding performed by the grounding unit would have on the ground potential of the power generation unit excluded by the exclusion unit, detects ground faults in the power generation unit by setting the ground potential thereof to two or more different potentials.
