A hair dye composition characterized by comprising (A) HC BLUE No. 2 and (B) DISPERSE VIOLET 1 together with (C) HC YELLOW No. 2 and/or HC YELLOW No. 4 and having a pH value of 7-11. It is preferred that the ratio by mass of the content of (A) HC BLUE No. 2 to the content of (B) DISPERSE VIOLET 1 is 1-30. It is also preferred that the hair dye composition further comprises (D) DISPERSE BLACK 9.
