PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source unit capable of expanding the wavelength band of light-source light to a discretional width, and a projection type display device using the light source unit.SOLUTION: A light source unit 200, for a blue color (B) used in a projection type display device, synthesizes, by a photosynthesis element 270, a first light-source light emitted from a first light source device 201 provided with a first solid light source 220a and a second solid light source 220b differing in a wavelength band in which an intensity peak lies and a second light-source light emitted from a second light source device 202 provided with a third solid light source 250a and a fourth solid light source 250b differing in the wavelength band in which the intensity peak lies, and emits the synthesized light as a light-source light. The first solid light source 220a and third solid light source 250a have the intensity peak in a first wavelength region, and the second solid light source 220b and fourth solid light source 250b have the intensity peak in a second wavelength region greater in wavelength than the first wavelength region. |
