This secondary battery comprises a battery element wherein positive electrodes (1) and negative electrodes (6) are alternately laminated with separators (20) being interposed therebetween, and each positive electrode (1) and each negative electrode (6) respectively comprise a collector (3, 8) and an active material (2, 7). Each surface of the collector (3, 8) is provided with a coated portion and an uncoated portion of the active material (2, 7). The active material (2, 7) has an inclined portion (2a, 7a) where the thickness is reduced. An insulating member (40) is arranged so as to cover the boundary part (4a) of the coated portion and the uncoated portion of each positive electrode (1). One or both insulating members (40) on both surfaces of a positive electrode collector (3) has one end portion (40a), which is positioned on the inclined surface (2a) and faces the inclined part (7a) of one or both active materials (7) on both surfaces of a negative electrode collector (8), and another end surface (40b) that is positioned on the uncoated portion of a positive electrode (1). |
