PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a nonaqueous electrolytic solution which allows electrochemical characteristics, including low- and high-temperature cycle characteristics, and a low-temperature load characteristic after charge and storage at a fixed temperature, to be improved over a wide temperature range; and an electrochemical element arranged by use of such a nonaqueous electrolytic solution.SOLUTION: A nonaqueous electrolytic solution which enables the improvement of low- and high-temperature cycle characteristics, comprises: a nonaqueous solvent; and an electrolyte dissolved in the nonaqueous solvent. The nonaqueous electrolytic solution includes 0.01-10 mass% of carboxylate ester expressed by the general formula (I) below. An electrochemical element comprises the nonaqueous electrolytic solution.
